The New Owner's Ideas for Holmehill

Allanwater Development Ltd (AWDL), the new owners of Holmehill, met with the Chief Executive of Stirling Council on 22 November 2006 to discuss the development of Holmehill.

Through the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, in June 2007 Holmehill Ltd received a copy of a plan (see below), showing AWDL’s ideas for Holmehill and (it transpired) surrounding Council-owned sites. It is acknowledged that this plan is not a firm proposal but it does demonstrate AWDL’s thinking and approach to development.

AWDL’s plan shows:-

The development of

 a) The Holmehill site owned by AWDL

 b) Land owned by Stirling Council at

  1. The Braeport Centre with car park
  2. Ramoyle/ Bogside – an undulating, open grassy area where children play; traditionally known as ‘the Hieliemans’ (or ‘the Hielies’). It is said to be held in trust by the Council for the people of Dunblane.
  3. Bogside/Perth Road (site occupied by Scottish Woodlands and lock ups),
  4. Perth Road

The demolition of

  1. The Braeport Centre which is leased to the Dunblane Development Trust and is well used by many community groups
  2. The owner occupied gate house on the Perth Road (to create vehicular access to the site)
  3. The offices rented by Scottish Woodlands
  4. The 10 lockups at Bogside

The construction of a total of 55 houses

  1. 33 large houses on Holmehill and surrounding land (each house plot up to a quarter of an acre)
  2. 22 smaller houses on the Braeport - on the site of the Braeport Centre and the Braeport Meadow (each house approx 1500 sq ft)
